Ace of Spades Looking Spiffy (eh Notch?)

I know what you’re thinking.

And you’re right, it DOES look like Minecraft.  OK, got that out of your system? Ready to move on?

Ace of Spades is a free-to-play retro-looking sandbox building and FPS game developed by Ben Aksoy for the PC.  The game notably uses Ken Silverman’s Voxlap engine.

The Game contains sandbox construction elements where players are able to construct defensive structures or dig trenches (among other things).  Game rounds are played on randomly generated map  by default, although  custom maps are playable,  and a map editor  included that allows for different kinds of maps to be created and used.   Currently, the maximum number of players allowed on a server is 32, but the developers plan to have a  maximum number of 64 in a future update.

Jagex, the publisher announced that the shooter will launch on Steam in December 2012.

You can find out more on Ace of Spades at their official website.
