Cyberpunk 2077 is an upcoming action role-playing video game that was announced back in 2012, which is based on the Cyberpunk 2020 series of tabletop role-playing games. The game is currently being developed by CD Projekt RED (Makers of The Witcher & The Witcher 2). Cyberpunk 2077 will feature a dystopian futuristic world in which ultra-modern technology co-exists with a degenerated human society.
The game aims to be mature and ambitious, with character customization being strongly tied to the plot. It will have a non-linear story with different character classes. It will have both first-person and third-person perspectives.
Lead writer Sebastian Stępień said the game will have non-player characters speaking in non-English languages. Player characters who don’t speak the language will have to buy a translator implant to understand them.
Stępień also said they would try to get native speakers to do the voices. Stępień has stated that:
“You can’t reliably recreate [the] street slang of Los Angeles or some other American city; you can’t simply dub it and reproduce those emotions, rhythm of speech, mannerisms… Otherwise we’d simply hear that Polish actors are trying to imitate Americans. That won’t work.”
Seems like they’re poised to go the extra mile with this one, at least when it comes to the localization. Regretfully little more is actually know about the game. Sources have stated that the game is poised for a Q4 2015 launch. Dang! That’s like a year away…..
Well, stay tuned cyberpunks, we’ll see if we can round up some more juicy tidbits for ya!
