Mad Max is an upcoming post-apocalyptic vehicular combat game set in an open world environment and based on the Mad Max film series. It is currently in development by Avalanche Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.  The game was officially reveled at the 2013 E3 event during the Sony press conference and was  initially slated for release in 2014, but the release date has been delayed, but according to the official website, the game will be released on September 1st 2015.  Mad Max is to be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Play as Mad Max, a lone warrior who must embark on a perilous journey after his Interceptor is stolen by a deadly gang of marauders. A reluctant hero with an instinct for survival, Max wants nothing more than to leave the madness behind and find solace in the storied “Plains of Silence”.

As you’ll see from the video, sure, it looks ‘cool’, but a dozen of other games that have vehicle combat come to mind (Twisted Metal comes to mind!) , and Mad Max doesn’t stand out from the crowd as of yet.  RAGE was my go-to post apocalyptic vehicular combat game for awhile, and living up to that change is going to be a challenge.

Let’s hope that Avalanche Studios give us some more juicy tidbits in the coming months to tantalize our need for fast cars and high octane situations.
