DayZ Car Cock-Block

After having been stuck up at the Northwest Airfield for two days with a broken leg (inside a building that had a bench blocking the entrance), I deciced to attract the attention of some of the infecteds and let them end another pathetic attempt at survival.

Kiwi had already respawned and was busy re-gearing-up in Cherno while Hunter was making his was from Kamenka. I respawned a few times, hella far away, and eventually got close enough to run into Cherno to meet up with Kiwi, who was holding down the fort at some smokestacks. Without stopping for supplies, I ran to the city and into the firehouse where I found nothing of use but some bandanges and a crowbar.

The whole time I was doing that, a car was driving like crazy through the city; and the driver would get out and shoot a few of the infected every so often. Kiwi and I were discussing whether or not to shoot him while I was running to the smokestacks, which are about 100 yards north of the firehouse, when tons of shooting started going on, the infected were everywhere, but no human was in sight. I nor Kiwi, who was on the top of a building, could see anyone.

Then, bam! I was killed. As I’m waiting to respawn, Kiwi gets killed as well. Luckily, we both respawned close to Cherno and were making our way back again when I see the car go whizzing around the corner from me. Because I was pretty sure he was the asshole who killed me  (a guy with only a crowbar), I’d do what any sane person in this situation would do.  I took off after him. I figured maybe I could hit his car with the crowbar and do some damage. Or at least annoy him and get a few laughs for myself.

And to what did my wondering eyes appear as I rounded the corner, but an empty car! I’m sure he jumped out again and was shooting the infected, but I never saw him; only heard his shots as I carjacked his ride while yelling to Kiwi and Hunter that we had finally found a car!!

I drove over to Kiwi and we headed north as fast as we could to rendezvous with Hunter. Our plan was to then stash the car somewhere. Not even a minute out of Cherno we came under heavy fire, with the tires being hit (and the indicator turning yellow), causing the car to pull off the road. I thought it was toast, so I jumped out and ran for the barn across the road and down in the valley. The whole time I was being shot at, got hit a few times, and began losing lots of blood.

In the meantime, Kiwi jumped into the drivers seat, drove the car a few hundred yards, parked off the side of a dirt road, then went a bit up the mountain to provide over-watch. He ain’t called Killakiwi for nothin’! He spotted the guy who ambushed the car I rightfully stole and took him out.  His reward was finding a high-powered rifle with a night vision scope. I ate the 4 ‘cooked meats’ he had, bringing back my vision and giving me some much needed blood.

We got back in the car and started driving west, meeting up with Hunter a few seconds later. The car was getting low on gas so we decided to follow the dirt road, hide the car, and trek to the town for some supplies and gas. I did some DayZ off-roading and backed the car onto a tree-covered hill far from the road. The three of us got out and were dicking around, talking about who would go and who would stay, etc., when bam, Bam, Bam! I’m down. Dead. Bam, Bam! Kiwi is down and Hunter’s laughing. We both think he killed us but he was knocked unconscious and thought the entire situation indeed comical. So, the three of us were again ambushed, this time, whoever he was got 3 kills and car in perfect working order.

So, I respawned again, met up with Hunter while Kiwi was in Cherno, and we made our way back to our dead bodies. We managed to get a few rifles and supplies, but the car was long gone. At least it was fun and one hell of a ride. Thanks for the memories volkswagen hatchback…tis better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved at all.
