Tom Clancy´s Rainbow Six Siege Pro League: 3rd place seed Playing Ducks vs gBots

Tom Clancy´s Rainbow Six Siege Pro League: 3rd place seed Playing Ducks vs gBots

The first match of the day was Playing Ducks facing off with gBots for the third and final spot in the Katowice LAN finals. This was something I anticipated to be a very precise and careful display of gameplay from both teams to secure the coveted spot on the plane to Poland. Both teams had suffered only one loss during the regular season which was actually to the teams facing off for the 1st and 2nd seed, Penta and Gifu later after the match covered in here. The same fate was waiting for them again in the playoffs with the [...]

Homefront, better than you thought it was..

Homefront, better than you thought it was..

When we were suggesting games for our list of Most anticipated Games of 2015 I threw Homefront 2 into the mix. Two days later, when the laughter had died down and they finally realised I wasn’t trolling, they wanted to know why. ‘It’s simple’, I told them. ‘Because the original Homefront is one of the best FPSs I’ve ever played!’ (But with a hell of a lot of caveats!). Now before I go on, I’m not talking about the single player campaign, which was the worst kind of linear shit imaginable. The protagonist can fly a helicopter and operate any number of guns and explosives, but can’t open a [...]

The Life And Trials Of Dayz Standalone

The Life And Trials Of Dayz Standalone

To understand the present, we must understand the past. Can you remember the first time you played DayZ? It may have been the vanilla version of the original Arma 2 mod, or maybe Origins, Epoch, Overwatch or a whole bunch of others. It might even have been DayZ Standalone. Some of you may even have been a first-timer in all of them. But can you remember the very first time you ever set foot in the DayZ universe? I can. It was the original version of the mod, based on Arma 2 with the Operation Arrowhead expansion, back in the summer or autumn of 2012. I first [...]

Review: Metro 2033

Review: Metro 2033

Aeons ago in gaming terms (well, 2010) there was a game we dubbed ‘The PC Crippler’ – a game so future-proof that it can stand toe to toe with many of the big-budget games released this year. That game, my friends is, Metro 2033 (obviously, since it’s named in the title). Last year, with surprisingly little fanfare, it was given a new hair cut and a fresh pair of pants with a ‘Redux’ version. Building on already-impressive visuals, Metro 2033 Redux  improves on the original in just about every way, with superior graphics and even new gameplay mechanics, transplanted from it’s sequel, Metro Last Light. Metro 2033 is a survival-horror shooter based on the [...]

Interview with the Devs: Verdun

Interview with the Devs: Verdun

Verdun is a squad-based multiplayer FPS set during the First World War. The game was inspired by the infamous Battle of Verdun in 1916, and includes historically accurate features. These include authentic WW1 weaponry, historical maps based on sectors of the Western Front, and authentic uniforms and equipment. The game immerses you audiovisually into one of the bloodiest conflicts ever fought in Europe. It’s been in Early Access for a while now, but is set for a full release soon (TBA). We talked to them a while ago, so we thought we’d catch up with the devs and talk game engines, community feedback [...]

Most Anticipated Games of 2015

Most Anticipated Games of 2015

From the dying embers of lackluster 2014 we look ahead to 2015 with hope, hope that finally shit is going to get real, hope that Ubisoft is going to deliver on it’s promises, hope that these f@cking rigs we built with our bare hands are going to get punished by some motherfunking bitching gaming awsomenessness. And what gives us this hope? these mofo’s right here……..   Tom Clancy’s The Division (Ubisoft) Imagine a persistent, online, open-world New York where exploration, combat, and RPG player-progression are essential (so, not unlike real life then? – Travel Ed.). The Division is inspired by Operation Dark [...]

Review: Far Cry 4

Review: Far Cry 4

Far Cry 3 was amazing. A wonderful, open world, with hundreds of activities and various ways of approaching every encounter. It had an engaging story and crazy characters on top of all that, and this made it a really unique, refreshing experience. Back when it was released in 2012, we had lots of competent shooters to choose from, including Borderlands 2, a new CoD: Black Ops and the fourth Halo, and every one of them was a solid game that made money and was enjoyed by its fans. But for this reviewer, it was the third Far Cry that owned them [...]

Looking for a WW1 Game to Play?

Looking for a WW1 Game to Play?

It’s been 100 years since the start of the First World War, so I thought I’d look at a game based on the period. That game is…. Verdun is a squad-based multiplayer FPS inspired by the infamous battle of the same name. The game includes historically accurate features, such as realistic WWI weaponry, historical maps based on various sectors of the Western Front, and authentic uniforms and equipment. Verdun effectively immerses you in one of the bloodiest conflicts ever fought in Europe. The merciless nature of trench warfare offers a unique battlefield for tactical squad play in Verdun’s gritty Frontlines mode, as well as [...]

Coop Campaign: The Pinnacle of Gaming

Coop Campaign: The Pinnacle of Gaming

So, apparently Far Cry 3 has a co-op campaign mode. This is something that I have been waiting a long time for. The last time I played a game that had a  co-op campaign mode (that was half-way decent) was Call of Duty World at War. As far as I’m concerned, a game like that is the pinnacle of gaming: working together with a few other gamers towards a common goal.  Unlike ‘normal’ good ol’ fashion multiplayer, in which you’re pitted against another team of players, there is no question of loyalty in the Cooperative Campaign mode.  It is simply [...]
