PC Gaming in… 2006

PC Gaming in… 2006

Greetings, XP4Ts. You may have noticed that the XP4T blog here is back in business, which I hope is as happy news for you as it is for us. As you may or may not know, we all work in the industry ourselves, so time is a somewhat limited resource and the site sometimes goes on an unannounced hiatus for a while. But this time of year is often serendipitous for many of our schedules, so here we are again. Welcome back! At Christmas this year I had a cracker in which the motto read, ‘The road ahead is often illuminated by the [...]

The Death of Co-Op?

The Death of Co-Op?

Over the years we’ve seen cooperative elements in video games evolve and even transcend our wildest dreams. There is no doubt that this trajectory will continue, and gamers will be astounded time and time again with rich co-op features and ever elaborate game play modes. For clarification: cooperative games are in and of themselves not going anywhere anytime soon, but rather we as gamers will be hard-pressed to actually enjoy cooperative games with friends simply due to the over-saturation of the co-op market. Back in the day there were only a hand-full of games that were truly co-op games in [...]

Do The Division & Siege Share the same Universe?

Do The Division & Siege Share the same Universe?

-Or, The Division & Siege Mash-up! By no stretch of the imagination is it too far fetched that both Tom Clancy’s The Division and Tom Clancy’s Siege share the same universe. Obviously from a time line perspective, story elements from The Division wouldn’t be in Siege due to the fact that The Division centers around one particular event and the consequences of the aftermath. But on the flip side, if anyone was to be prepared for the downfall of western civilization and the restructuring of society, then Rainbow Six Siege operators are your go-to guys and gals.  It would stand [...]

How to Siege

How to Siege

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege has been out now for almost two months now, can you believe it?  I had played the beta, and was pretty impressed, but honestly, I had just gotten Fallout 4, and Star Wars Battlefront so I was pretty much set for games for awhile. I was lucky enough to score a pretty good deal on Siege during Black Friday, and I figured, why not? I’ll fire this baby up and see what it’s all about. Long story short, I haven’t touched Fallout 4, or Star Wars Battlefront since. Siege has been my bread AND my [...]

Rising Storm 2 is Coming….

Rising Storm 2 is Coming….

One of the most exciting announcements from E3 last year was Rising Storm 2: Vietnam, which arrives as  the successor to the 2013 “PC GAMER – Game Of The Year – Multiplayer” award winner Rising Storm from Tripwire Entertainment.  Regarded as one of the most brutal and realistic FPS shooters, the franchise, which started with Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45 in 2005, has earned great respect with Red Orchestra 2 and Rising Storm. Developed by Antimatter Games, the Vietnam-based sequel will be released some time in 2016. Revolving around the asymmetric combat between U.S. Forces and the NVA and Vietcong, the franchise takes it first step towards [...]

Siege: Are These the Operators You’re Looking For?

Siege: Are These the Operators You’re Looking For?

These recently leaked images found on both imgur and Reddit  supposedly show the two new Canadian operators, Frost and Buck that are scheduled for release on February 2nd. Frost is a defensive operator, armed with “a mechanical trap to incapacitate enemies”, which sounds like a bear trap!   Buck on the other-hand, is an attack operator with the ability to “toggle an under-barrel shotgun attachment on his main weapon”. So, uh, a rifle AND a shotgun, that’s bad ass.       [...]
