The Portable Arcade System: R-Kaid-R

With a name like Love Hulten, you’re gonna make things happen. Even though it may sound like a stage name for a Las Vegas stripper, the Swedish designer, craftsman and innovator has more to offer than slinky pole work.

He is the one man show behind the R-KAID-R which is a solid wood portable console emulator which presently supports 14 different game systems.

Supported game systems

MAME
Neo Geo
PC Engine / Turbo Grafx 16
Playstation 1
Atari 2600
Game Boy
Game Boy Advance
Nintendo
Super Nintendo
Sega Master System
Sega Genesis
Scummvm
Doom
Duke Nukem 3D

Additionally you can add games to your library via USB.

Now before you get too excited, the R-KAID-R is a very pricey toy, starting at €2499.00/$2,799.00 with the possibility of purchasing a custom bag and a game library starter kit. As these are custom jobs, they are exclusivity numbered and made to order and customizable.

I’m sure that won’t deter a number of hardcore hipsters though! Expect to see the R-KAID-R gracing your local cafe soon. If however you don’t have a trust fund from mommy and daddy dearest, you can always ‘slum it’ and check out the Retron 5.
