H1Z1 is an upcoming survival MMO sandbox video game in development by Sony Online Entertainment. The game utilizes the ForgeLight engine, which has the potential to support thousands of players simultaneously in game. Just how many players will be able to play on H1Z1 servers has not been said. H1Z1 is currently being developed for Early Access Alpha release for Microsoft Windows on Steam, and due to for full release on both Windows and PlayStation 4 later on.

The game is set a short while after a zombie apocalypse in rural United States, in which players will have to survive against the elements, hordes of undead (i.e. zombies), and thousands of potentially hostile survivors through interaction, scavenging for resources, building shelters and crafting.
The game, was announced in April 2014, and it will be free-to-play through micropayments, though as of October 2014, the way the game will be monetized has not been clearly defined. A public discussion regarding the matter has been initiated by SOE’s president on Reddit, alongside another regarding the inclusion of custom servers.
