I must have logged at least 200 hours between the ARMA 2 DayZ mod and the Standalone, and just when I though I’d had enough of the whole DayZ craze, and I had got it out of my system, a cute little game like this pops up! It totally reminds me of the original NES Shadowrun game with it’s top down isometric style, and that’s a good thing.
The game is a fan-made tribute to Bohemia Interactive’s zombie apocalypse survival game DayZ. It has been posted to the publisher’s website and is now free to play via Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Opera. The game even uses the original zombie sounds, which is scary!
MiniDayZ was made by the Russian DayZ super-fan CannedBits. Unlike the core title, MiniDayZ is single-player only, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. MiniDayZ has been endorsed by DayZ creator Dean Hall, and Bohemia Interactive likes the game so much they’re offering it on the official DayZ website as a free download.
The game has even been endorsed by “Mr. DayZ” himself, Dean Hall who wrote “I think it’s awesome, amazing, addictive, and brings something really new to the experience. I’m so glad you’ve been able to make it even better! Ignore the haters, the vast majority of people think it’s fantastic and I am one of those people.”
