Valve is poised to release a new series of hardware that will undoubtedly change how we game. There will in fact be a number of Steam Machines each with varying hardware specs; they are being referred to as Steam Machines.  These console boxes are in turn  run with the Steam OS, and controlled by the Steam Controller.  The controller is hackable, programmable, and will supposedly work with all of the games available on Steam sources stated.

Valve has made no secret of its plans to move Steam gaming from the PC to the living room. The company acknowledged last year that it was working on a dedicated hardware device to play Steam games on.
