The man behind the masterpiece It’s already been six years since we washed ashore for the first time on a beach somewhere near Tortage and started fighting our way to fame and glory in the MMORPG version of Robert E. Howard‘s legendary low-fantasy Conan world. From the very first moments of our epic adventure between the four continents of the Hyborian Age, our ears are blessed with the beautiful sounds of the original score, written for the game (and its expansions) by the Norwegian composer, musician and producer, Knut Avenstroup Haugen. And despite the ups and downs that the Age of Conan franchise has experienced over the years, its music still [...]
Beamdog confirm two new games in the works Beamdog have confirmed that they are indeed working on two new games, one of which will act as a bridge between Baldur’s Gate I and BGII. In a blog post released on Thursday, Amber Scott from Beamdog confirmed the developers are waist-deep in making two new games. One of them, going by the code name Adventure Y, will be an RPG set in Faerûn and will tell a story set between Baldur’s Gate I and II, using the classic Infinity Engine. The other game looks to be a product in a different genre than role [...]
December 1, 2014 Neoheresy News, Week in Review IT’S TRUE. I’ve been unfaithful. I vowed, I pledged I swore an oath to be a devote follower, nay, convert, but it has all become unraveled. This is my confession, the confession of a zombie game (man)whore. It all started innocently enough back in May, how was I to know it would blossom and grow into a full-grown relationship? The countless hours waiting to connect, the black loading screen…it almost brings a tear to my eye now upon reflection. But DayZ changed me. I was deep in the thralls of Battlefield 3, playing on a regular basis, it was quick instantaneous and addictive. But one [...]

October 18, 2012 J.J. Costello Impressions Mother nature loves harmony. While new MMO franchises come to this world every couple of months, some of the older ones simply die. MMO Gamer has just confirmed that City of Heroes is destined to be shut down in the near future along with Paragon Studio – the developers behind the game. Apparently, NCsoft is re-designing their market presence and wants to shift its focus somewhere else. If you want to check CoH before it dies for good, you don’t have much time. We at XP4T, bid the game farewell. [...]
September 4, 2012 Neoheresy Varia The game where you get to play gods! (Jesus and Mohammed sold separately) So amidst the controversy (dun dun dun), surrounding Hi-Rez’s newest title, I decided to take the risk of having my politically correct immortal soul ruined and test the SMITE beta. And whaddaya know, Kali is TONS of fun to play. We’ll get back to the controversy in a moment, but let’s first catch up on what exactly SMITE is. Successor, or copycat, of games like League of Legends, SMITE is a third person perspective MOBA. That’s multiplayer online battle arena for you laymen. You get to pick [...]

August 31, 2012 Manny Varia Anticipated by many, hyped by some, ArenaNet’s new MMO Guild Wars 2 officially releases on August 28. As one of those who pre-purchased the game, I have already been exploring the world of GW2 since Saturday morning and decided to take a quick break from the game to share my impressions with you – the good, the bad and the surprising. The Good When ArenaNet announced a few days ahead of the headstart that they might open the servers for the pre-purchasers up to 3 hours early, I was skeptic. After all, “up to” can mean anything from3 hours to [...]
August 28, 2012 Yasvindra Impressions, Reviews, Varia The War Z is a soon to be released game developed by Hammerpoint Interactive and published by Arktos Entertainment Group LLC. The design and idea for The War Z has been in place for a couple of years – however the development and the specific game features only started to develop this year. Sergey Titov: We started thinking about doing a zombie game last year and began developing a quest-based MMO set in a large, zombie infested world. Players would be able to explore and “unlock” new areas on the map as they progress through quests assigned to them in-game. When DayZ [...]
